Liability Waiver & Assumption of Risk

Please read carefully before signing up for any paddle.

I understand that stand-up paddleboarding, surfing, kayaking, and related ocean and bay activities involve INHERENT AND SIGNIFICANT RISK, including but not limited to drowning, near-drowning, hypothermia, cuts, sprains, collisions, marine wildlife encounters, sun exposure, weather changes, tidal and current changes, and other hazards that cannot be eliminated.

Assumption of risk

I voluntarily choose to participate in Girls Who Paddle SD meetups and expressly assume all risks of personal injury, death, property damage, or other loss that may arise from my participation, whether foreseeable or not.

Release

To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I release, waive, and discharge Girls Who Paddle SD, its founder Hannah Ohman (individually and in any organizing capacity), its organizers, volunteers, hosts, moderators, and members (the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising from my participation, including those based on ordinary negligence of the Released Parties.

I specifically acknowledge that Hannah Ohman is a community volunteer, is not a licensed guide, coach, lifeguard, or medical professional acting in that capacity at these meetups, and is not personally liable for any injury, death, loss, or damage that may result from my voluntary participation.

My representations

• I am in good physical condition and capable of the activity I have signed up for.
• I know how to swim and will wear appropriate safety equipment (leash, PFD if required).
• I will follow instructions from event hosts and applicable laws and lifeguard directives.
• I will not participate under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Media consent

I understand photos or videos may be taken during meetups and may be used on Girls Who Paddle SD social media. I can request removal at any time by emailing girlswhopaddlesd@gmail.com.

Emergencies

I authorize Girls Who Paddle SD organizers to seek emergency medical care on my behalf if needed. I understand I am responsible for any resulting medical costs.

By checking the waiver box when signing up for a paddle, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to this waiver.
